Meet Michael

IT STARTS WITH AUTHENTIC RELATIONSHIPS

I am a Mental Health Professional Counselor, Therapist, and Educator based in Houston, Texas who has a passion for building authentic, collective, and meaningful relationships. Through my experience I recognize and know the healing power of genuine connections and relationships that are built on honesty and trust.

As your counselor, you can expect…

·        An accepting and welcoming environment.

·        A therapeutic relationship built on honesty and trust.

·        Empathetic and non-judgmental listening.

·        Creative ways of working through a path toward healing.

My Professional Journey

I am a Houston transplant from a small town outside of Columbus, Ohio. I received my Bachelors of Art Education from the University of Toledo in Ohio. Shortly after receiving my undergraduate degree, I moved to Houston to be close to my family who live in Katy. I was an art teacher for six years in Aldine ISD where I recognized at that time that some of my students struggled with issues that were beyond my expertise. I also realized that I have a passion for working with adolescence and young adults who need extra attention and support. I went on to get my Masters in Counseling Education from the University of St. Thomas and started work as a school counselor. For the next seven years, I counseled in a variety of capacities, from inner city to private schools, gaining a wealth of experience working with students and families from all walks of life. However, I recognized that my true passion was to promote positive mental health and wellness through counseling. Mental Health is not always the focal point of school counseling programs; therefore, I then began my journey of acquiring my credentials to become a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas.

When I’m not counseling…

Outside of counseling, I like to spend time with family and friends, celebrating special occasions, playing board games, sitting down to a meal, or checking out Houston’s culturally diverse scene.  I enjoy all forms of visual and performing arts. I find mental healing and personal expression in the artistic process.  My creative outlets tend to be painting, sketching, or making something on the potter’s wheel. I have been an avid potter since high school and have a mini ceramic studio at my house. I have always had a passion for creating and being innovative. I love getting outdoors usually for a simple walk around the neighborhood with my dog “Jack” or hitting up Houston’s metro parks and Bayou bike trails.
